| Fun fact: | Bed bugs and vampires are 3rd cousins. Both are nocturnal, prefer to feed on the blood of humans and are disliked by everyone! |
| Indications: | Noticeable live reddish flattened insects crawling in your bedding, on or behind bed headboard(s) or on/in nightstands. Blood spots and the insects shed skins may be present on sheets and other bedding materials. Waking up with unexplained bites is another indicator. Bedbug bites are sometimes confused with other insect bites. Bed bug bites often appear two or more in a row. |

How did bed bugs get into my home?- Typically bed bugs are brought into your home when you or your guests return from a vacation or business trip. Bed bugs are great at stowing away in the seams of luggage hitching rides from one piece of luggage to another.
- The actual size of a bed bug infestation can only be determined by a thorough inspection conducted by an HPM certified technician.
- Bed bug activity can spread unnoticed for some time. If you suspect you have bedbugs, call and schedule an appointment to have an HPM certified professional conduct an analysis of your premises.
- Mainly at night, one bedbug often inflicts multiple bites.
- Bedbugs typically travel up to twenty feet to feed, but will occasionally travel much further.
- Research literature on bed bugs and disease suggest that there is some potential for common bed bugs to transmit disease. As yet no researcher has documented that the bed bug cimex lectularius transmits a single disease.
- There is very little you can do to prevent bed bugs from hitching a ride to your house on your luggage when you travel. Bedbugs can be picked up in the hotel room or in the luggage hold of buses and aircraft. It is therefore recommended that you always thoroughly inspect your luggage and backpacks before bringing them back into your home.
